Check out what's on the shelves!
Curation is one of our favorite things here at Die Vibrant. 'On The Shelf' is a curated guide to the books and natural products that we looove + totally approve.
Readers often ask me what books I've read that changed my life, inspired me to do things differently, and awakened my spirit. To be honest, just like people, every book I've read's made an impact on my life. Each one has become part of me. When I first journeyed into my own self-awareness and growth, I consumed books like mad. Now, I trust my intuition a lot more, but I do read books to learn specific .
Below, I've curated the books that have had the most impact on my life. These are also books I reference often.
The Miracle of Apple Cider Vinegar: Practical Tips for Health, Home, & Beauty
Want to learn the ins and outs of Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV) and the benefits of consuming it? This book covers how ACV can be used for everything from boosting your immunity to apple pie recipes to cleaning your windows and removing stains. It's a great little book that also includes recipes on how to make your own ACV, apple juice and apple cider. It's worth having around, especially if you are just getting started with ACV! It's a super short book filled with great information and recipes.
Be Your Own "Doctor" by Rachel Weaver
I consult this book whenever I'm feeling a bit down, or whenever someone comes to me with their ailments. It's a great resource book to have on hand: I last used it after I (accidentally) stabbed myself in the hand with an exacto knife. Fun! Lucky for me, cayenne is a great way to clot blood (and, it doesn't hurt!). This book is written by a mother who has lots of kids and treats them mostly with natural remedies. Included are lots of case studies with a focus on children, women, and immunity boosting.
The Seven Spiritual Laws Of Success: A Practical Guide to the Fulfillment of Your Dreams by Deepak Chopra
This book changed my life. No joke. It came at the perfect time where I needed guidance on how to create a life that was authentic for me. It's a book I hold near and dear and one I recommend to anyone struggling with relationships, health issues, and / or personal development.
Home Herbal by Penelope Ody
Home Herbal is a book I have on hand to reference for preventative treatments, including herbs, vitamins and minerals depending on the lifestyle stage. A book like this is great for boosting your confidence about herbs, what works, what doesn't, and how much is appropriate, depending on age. It also includes a beautiful glossary of herbs for reference, including recipes. Booyah!
Organic Body Care Recipes by Stephanie Tourles
Gifted to me by a friend, this organic body care recipe book is another great reference for creating your own personal care products. It's quite impressive with the breadth of the recipes, herbs, tonics, skin & hair care tips. This book is a reminder of how many of our body care products can be created directly from the natural world and what we find in our kitchens!
The Fire Starter Sessions by Danielle LaPorte
Hello, personal power! The Fire Starter Sessions is a book that kicks you into high-gear on the path directly to fulfilling your desires. Is there anything worse than reading an inspirational book without any action to take afterwards? Over the years, I've read lots of personal development books and this one is one of the most comprehensive, well-designed, and practical books I've read. #TFSS includes worksheets and activities to help you hone in on what it is that truly lights you up in life. And, I truly believe that when you feel authentic, aligned and content with your life, your health flows just as smoothly. If you're needing a motivational boost to go after your long-held dreams, including your path to wellness, I highly recommend The Fire Starter Sessions
You Can Heal Your Life by Louise Hay
The link between mind and body is strong. As I mentioned in the first ever blog post on Die Vibrant, we feel and carry emotions within our physical body. If we repress our emotions, these emotions manifest throughout our body with different symptoms and ailments. Although this book can seem a bit woo-woo, it's an interesting resource to have on hand that helps you think in a different way about illness and dis-ease.
Total Health The Chinese Way by Esther Ting
This is the first book I ever read about Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and I absolutely love it. It is written in a very clear manner, which makes it easy to take in the TCM concepts (damp, hot, wet, dry, anyone?!). Once you figure out your body's conditions, you can learn to eat in a way that restores energy and Qi to your blood. There's also a fascinating explanation about which organs feel what emotions and what happens when they are unbalanced. I've found TCM to be very accurate for my body and past health experiences. I do also like to eat the foods that treat my conditions (e.g. during the winter, I'm typically very damp and wet. TCM provides you with a list of foods to consume (and, foods to avoid!) to heal your body. Total Health The Chinese Way also touts the importance of stretching daily and working with acupuncture points for better flow of energy.
Energy Medicine For Women: Aligning Your Body's Energies to Boost Your Health and Vitality by Donna Eden
Donna Eden is the shit! Seriously, I absolutely love her energy and her suggestions of how to align your energy. The exercises are simple and can be done in 5-10 minutes every morning. Like Total Health The Chinese Way, it's clear that we should be stretching our bodies to move stagnant energy around. I personally find that on days I do yoga, everything seems to flow better. If I take a few days off and come back to the mat, I feel the stiffness in my body. Maintaining at least a stretching sequence every morning can help us increase our life energy and help us manifest what we desire.
